Representatives Duties

 

Executive board...

The President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and the six Regional Representatives all elected by members, comprise the Executive Board.  The primary duty of the E-board is to carry out the program and policies of the Representative Council and submits recommendations and proposals for the Council’s action. Executive Board meets once a month, prior to Council meetings, or whenever needed.

Officers Responsibilities...

 

President

 

Preside at all official meetings and shall perform such duties as are customarily associated with the office

Appoint and/or discharge all committee members with the approval of the General Membership and serve as an ex-officio member of all committees with their duties

Charge committees with their duties

Represent the MEA at meetings with school district management

Serve as the delegate to WEA-Eastern Washington or appoint his/her designee

Prepare and submit MEA annual reports of the Association activities as appropriate

 

Vice-President

 

Assist the president

Shall act in the absence of the president

 

Secretary

 

Keep accurate minutes of all Executive Board and Representative Council meetings

Distribute copies of Executive Board minutes to Executive Board members following meetings

Distribute minutes of Executive Board and Representative Council meetings to all members within thirty (30) days following meetings

 

Treasurer

 

Oversee the collection, transmittal, and disbursement of dues

Deposit all monies in a bank, in the name of the MEA

Notify the MEA of the name of the bank in which dues are deposited

Hold all funds and disburse them accordingly upon the submission of vouchers approved by the president

Sign all checks along with either the President or the Vice President in his/her absence

Prepare an annual financial report, which shall be distributed once each year to the Representative Council

Report at each Representative Council meeting

Prepare the books for an audit

File the appropriate federal and state forms

 

Grievance Chairperson

 

Chair grievance committee meetings/activities

Coordinate and process grievances according to time lines

Provide training for committee members

Maintain communication with President, Executive Board, Rep. Council, and Bargaining Team, serve and vote on Rep. Council

 

Representative Council

 

Mandates action, approves the budget and disperses funds.
